After working for more than a decade in the corporate world, I became depressed and realized I needed a change. Taking the advice of a local healer, I decided to choose the path of an energy healer. My wife was not onboard with my decision, however, and filed for divorce.
I did not want to end the marriage, but decided that my happiness was more important. But ironically, the divorce triggered major depressive episodes and I soon became suicidal. (I describe a couple of those episodes in this post.) Instead of pursuing my new career, I was instead fighting to maintain the will to stay alive.
The dark, hole that I had fallen into was deep, and initially I didn’t think should have to do anything to get out of it. “It wasn’t my fault” is the way I felt about the situation. But over time – especially after working with several different therapists and healers – I came to understand why everything I was experiencing had occurred, and what I must do to pull myself out of that hole.
The process was neither easy nor as quick as I would have hoped. Much of the problem was the amount of time I spent understanding depression and unhealthy relationships. But over time I learned to appreciate the experiences as they gave me knowledge that I would never have discovered otherwise.
In the meantime, I never lost sight of my dream to be a healer. In the months and years that followed, I studied multiple different modalities of energy healing. But for reasons I could not understand at the time, it felt like something was missing.
I find that missing piece when I attended a Shamanic Practitioners Certification program. Although I had dabbled in sound healing in the past, this program gave me the knowledge and confidence I needed in order to blend energy and sound healing together into a single modality that I could use as my own. This is the medicine that I now offer my clients.
